I roped my father-in-law into driving down to get the rims off my Fiat, bring them to the tire store, put on the tires, go back and put them back on the car so we can wheel it out and prep it for my other friend's flat bed to drag it up. I can't wait to get it into my garage. I'll bring my better camera to take some serious shots for documentation.

In order to get the car on the flat bed. I need tires. The tires on the wreck are dry rotted. I took a quick ride down to the local junk yard. I learned that they JUST crushed numerous Spiders. Boooooooooo. I was able to go through their rack, but found no tires. I will need to go back with shoes on to trudge through the yard and see if there are any cars with 13" 4x100 tires. My other option is to purchase low end Sears tires. Which I might do. It's double the cost of the junk yard, but it will give me brand new tires to ride on for the time being. If I get it started in the near future. Guardsman anyone? linkage>>> This past Easter I was asked by my wife's Aunt if I wanted her Fiat Spider. Her husband had got it for her with plans of a full restoration. After tearing out the interior and get numerous extra parts the project came to a stand still. A few weeks later, after talking my wife into getting the car, her Uncle sent me a picture of the style of car. Here is the picture he sent. Looks awesome right? Well, today I got to go down to their house and see the current state of the car. (I'll put a gallery below). Looks different right? I've been a hobby mechanic for my family for the past ten or more years. I look forward to the project. I have a background in sculpture, illustration and fabrication. This project should be a good fit. I've decided to start this blog so folks can follow along and hopefully it will make me work harder on the project. Or at least keep up with it. The car is actually in pretty good shape considering its age and the fact that it hasn't been on the road for a very long time. |
