My new parts arrived for rebuilding my calipers and various other parts. I realized I had a lot of parts that needed clean and sandblasting/wire brushing. After talking with my wife for a bit we decided that dropping the money on blast cabinet was the way to go. Safe, clean and able to save us oodles of money since we didn't have to buy new parts. I can now fully resurface many rusty parts on this car. I'm very excited. First up, brake splash guards. They will be sand blasted and painted with a nice durable paint. More pictures to come. Before and afters. Should be awesome. Only problem is that doing things right is going to increase my work time. That's fine. I don't want to go back and redo anything later.

On Monday I ordered some parts from two Fiat vendors and according to my tracking numbers both packages are out for delivery. One from UPS and the other USPS. I'm happy to know there is about a four day turn around time for orders. I have some more parts to order, but I'm hoping I can get most of the braking system finished this weekend while I wait for the rest of my parts. If I order them tonight maybe I will get them by Tuesday-ish.
I've got a lot of old hoses to replace. I just placed my order for parts and am waiting for them to arrive. In the meantime I'm taking inventory of what hoses need replacing. All of my hoses are metric. I'm going to phone my local auto parts store today an see if they carry 8mm fuel line and various other hoses. But I'll have to bring them samples. I don't know these sizes. I try to be pretty organized, so I labeled all the hoses and took some pics. I'll take them all out, head over to the auto parts store and see if they can get me what I need. I needed some parts. So I placed the order! The first vendor didn't have everything I needed. They were out of stock on a few things. So I used International Auto Parts and Bayless Midwest. Here's what's coming.
Timing Belt Tee Gasket 4 rotors Front and rear caliper rebuild kits Brake hoses Brake pads Hand brake cable That will get me started. I'll head over to NAPA this week and pick up some oil and a filter. If I get my hands on fuel line I'll try and hook everything up to see if this beast starts. First I have to make sure the cylinders are not stuck. |
